The rough day seemed to continue at the apartment here today, both the morning before I left and evening when I got home were full of a little too much fit-making.  It was an exciting day, though.  Aldo towed home the Christmas tree from the nursery up the street and when I got home they [...]

Ah my friends, so nice to see you.  It’s been such a busy week I haven’t even written you any posts in my head which I then didn’t have time to write down.  My attention has simply been turned, and for that I apologize. I miss you too.

I have found being pregnant a second time to be a breeze compared to the first.  Granted, I’m not much prone to morning sickness (though I had my days, exhausted ones) and I have a loving partner and great support system, which I hope for anyone anytime getting pregnant or adopting.  But if you are [...]

First look: I’m virtually famous. Despite what I’ve discussed in previous posts, I want to clear up for the weary mothers and potential heart of gold fathers out there, desperately searching for some random ray of hope in their midnight web searches, that sleep training, as infuriating as it may seem, is not useless. What [...]

He’s 14 months today, Rome. He’s still a little guy, not very tall and fairly slender. He’s the youngest in his class so they (the teachers) always get a kick out of whatever he does well since he’s the smallest. I think all children are amazing so I don’t take too much credence when people say he is oh so smart. I would naturally believe that even if he weren’t.

But this morning, he convinced me. He is oh so smart. Too smart.

In other news, I mean, other than whatever you’ve already heard in news this morning, Rome is officially a toddler.  Crawling has all but completely dropped out of his repertoire in the past week and he is now whizzing around with ease. He has picked up some serious speed. Now he loves emptying cupboards, practicing [...]

The first night he turned over and just, well, went to sleep! I was crestfallen: he can actually go to sleep on his own. I know this intellectually, but after putting him to sleep every night for a year, save 4 or 5 nights, it’s quite a revelation that he could do it himself.

Rome, he’s 13 months now, he’s  trying so hard to both walk and talk right now.  When I pick him up from day care and he is so excited to see me that he isn’t thinking about it, he’ll take 8 or 10 steps straight.  They tell me how at circle time he said Apple [...]

I was met with a lot of skepticism when I informed my friends and family of my old school desire to try cloth diapers with my first baby last year.  (Thank God I was telling them about this and not my unassisted birth at least – their skepticism was strong but bearable). I always said, [...]

Well it’s late and I might have to get serious about this “Nighttime Timber” blog because night is the only chance I’m getting to write these days. At one year minus one week, Mijo is a bundle of surprises and activity.  He’s started shaking his head no, he blew his grandmas a kiss goodbye, he [...]
